“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers shock the world and go from last in the NFC South and having the worst defense in the NFL last season to playing in Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta Georgia on February 3rd 2019” … come on it could happen.

So, let’s say that it did happen and the Buccaneers had that magical season where everything went their way and ended up playing in the biggest game of them all in a quest to capture the teams second Lombardi Trophy.   Who would I want them to play is the round table question this week?  Let’s go through my top three choices and why and then pick the winner out of those choices.

Jon Gruden’s Oakland Raiders

That would only be too perfect for Gruden’s first time coaching again in ten seasons that he would end up taking the Raiders to the Super Bowl and playing his old team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just as he did when he came to Tampa.  So many storylines such as “Gruden takes on the Team who fired him” and “Doug Martin’s chance to get revenge on the Team that released him”, but this matchup would scare me because I think Gruden would do everything he could to “stick it” to the team who fired him.  After some of the off-season moves that Gruden has made it appears that he still thinks he is coaching in 2008, so it’s not looking likely that the Raiders will make the Super Bowl this season.

“Sacks”onville Jaguars

The Jaguars are much like the Buccaneers as they have a young talented nucleus that dominates in games, but on the opposite side of the ball as they have the young talented defense where the Buccaneers have built up a young talented offense, hopefully anyway after finally drafting a running back.  Minus Leonard Fournette and a few other pieces the Jaguars have not had a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball, and in the Buccaneers case until recently they have not had a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball (minus: McCoy, David, hopefully Spence, and Kwon but until the last few seasons not much else).  Although the Buccaneers have added a lot of pieces to their defense this off-season it would still be interesting to see one of the top defenses in the Jaguars maybe take on one of the top offenses … hopefully in the Buccaneers.

New England Patriots

Who doesn’t want to take down football’s version of “The Evil Empire”?  With Tom Brady as Darth Vader and Bill Belichick as the Emperor.  The Buccaneers came very close to doing just that but in a regular season game in last season’s week 5, and most likely would have if they had a competent kicker at that time.  Last season the two teams went on opposite paths after the near win in week five as the Patriots ended up in Super Bowl 52 (losing) while the Buccaneers ended up … 5 and 11.  The Patriots always seem to be in the Super Bowl (playing in 3 of last 5) so if the Buccaneers are going to make that magical run this season we could expect that they would play the Patriots.

Now out of Gruden’s Raiders, the Jaguars, and the “Evil Empire” Patriots the team that I would most like the Buccaneers to play if (when) they go on their magical season to Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta would be … The “Sacks”onville Jaguars because I think that it would be a great game between one of the league’s top defenses and hopefully top offenses.  Here is to hoping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have everything fall in their favor next season, and do indeed make it to Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta and kick the crap out of the Jaguars.

Phew, now that I woke up from my dream … or did I???  As always GO BUCS!!!
