Of course, there’s a part of me who wants to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the brakes off the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl 53. I mean, I think there’s a part in us all.

Alternately, I’m sure there’s a piece of every Raiders fan who’d like to see Jon Gruden lead the Silver and Black into the big game against Tampa and return the chop-shop treatment they got back in 2003.

Chances are it won’t happen. I mean, each team only has a one in sixteen shot at making it, right?

Rarely do we see re-matches in the title bout, but boy what a fight it would be. So, as I make my pick I want to be clear; it’s not that I don’t want to see Raiders v Bucs part-two, there’s just a different connection I’d like to see this franchise win right now.

Jameis Winston v Marcus Mariota. In some sense, Mariota has won rounds two and three but we’ve got a lot of rounds left before the cards are turned in.

Winston was the number-one overall pick coming out of Florida State four seasons ago. But then Mariota’s Titans got the win in the first and only head-to-head thus far, and with their playoff berth in the NFL’s version of the NBA Eastern Conference, the former Duck has taken the career lead by a wing.

Winning a Super Bowl first and winning it against the Titans would give the Buccaneers’ franchise leader a one-two back-to-back rounds four and five victory and put Winston ahead on the career card once again.

Truth be told, I’d like to see Mike Vrabel win a Super Bowl as a head coach. Maybe after Dirk Koetter retires after a few of his own and leaving as a Bucs coaching legend, Vrabel can head down to Florida for a few title runs.

But that’s a story for a different day.
