Defensive Line:

Gerald McCoy – 90

Jason Pierre-Paul – 84

Vinny Curry – 83

Mitch Unrein – 80

Vita Vea – 79

Noah Spence – 78

Beau Allen – 75

William Gholston – 75

Stevie Tu’ikolovatu – 72

Will Clarke IV – 71

Pat O’Connor – 67

Davonte Lambert – 65

Channing Ward – 64

Arguably the Buccaneers biggest strength on paper, their defensive line will wreak havoc on opposing running games. Although Madden players are prone to throw the ball, they won’t have a choice against the Buccaneers anyway. An otherworldly, eight players rated above 75 overall.

Linebackers:

Lavonte David – 95

Kwon Alexander – 80

Kendell Beckwith – 75

Jack Cichy – 69

Adarius Glanton – 69

Devante Bond – 67

Riley Bullough – 67

Cameron Lynch – 66

Nigel Harris – 63

A top heavy unit, David and Alexander are the stars of this group. Bucs fans will tell you David has finally got his due. For whatever reason, he is never mentioned with the elite linebackers, but plays to that level every year.

Cornerbacks:

Brent Grimes – 86

Vernon Hargreaves – 77

Ryan Smith – 73

M.J. Stewart – 73

Carlton Davis – 71

Javien Elliot – 69

David Rivers – 64

This is where the defensive issues come into play. The Buccaneers lack a true lockdown corner and they can be torn apart in Madden. Grimes’ age makes him a threat to get beat deep, but the youth can be developed in franchise mode.

Safties:

Chris Conte – 73

Justin Evans – 71

Keith Tandy – 71

Josh Robinson – 70

Jordan Whitehead – 68

Isaiah Johnson – 65

Godwin Igwebuike – 62

Hopefully Evans gets a ratings boost during the season. He is poised for a breakout season and could fix a lot of the issues in the Buccaneers secondary. Conte or Tandy won’t excite anyone, but they are trustworthy options next to Evans. They are also good injury insurance in Madden.

Special Teams:

K Chandler Catanzaro – 77

P Brad Anger – 81

Nothing crazy here, Tampa could be worse off. Catanzaro and Anger are veterans who get the job done.
