The Sporting News doesn’t like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers chances in 2018. Projecting the team to finish with the worst record in the NFL.

Well, the Sporting News’ predictions weren’t kind to the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay came away with a 1-15 record which would land them the number one pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Oh, how the Bucs have fallen.

To think, just two years ago Tampa was the premier breakout team. With a young quarterback on the verge of stardom and talent all around him, the Buccaneers were offseason darlings.

The high hopes of the Bucs faithful came to screeching halt. Tampa’s defense was awful in 2017 and Winston failed to live up to the expectations.

At least from a national perspective, the Buccaneers have quickly become an afterthought.

Even with the flaws, Tampa Bay doesn’t seem capable of going 1-15. Although their schedule is tough, the Bucs face Cleveland, Chicago, New York and Cincinnati this season. At worst the Buccaneers will split those games.

The roster is too talented for the Bucs to finish with one victory. Despite their struggles at times, both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston are good options under center. No matter what they will keep their team in the ball game.

There are reasons for optimism around One Buc Place. General manager Jason Licht has rebuilt the defense and running back Ronald Jones will look to ignite the spark for the talented offense.

It appears many have forgotten how close Tampa Bay was to the playoffs. 2017 was a big step back but the team has only gotten better.

If for some reason Tampa Bay does finish 1-15, expect utter chaos.
