5 pleasant surprises at Buccaneers training camp

Carlton Davis, M.J. Stewart and Jordan Whitehead

The Buccaneers needed reinforcements in their secondary. With Brent Grimes in the twilight of his career and Vernon Hargreaves coming off a disappointing season, new faces were bound to enter the mix.

Tampa Bay addressed its holes in the secondary through the draft by adding Davis, Stewart and Whitehead. The Bucs front office may have hit on what could be the foundation of the secondary for years to come.

Throughout camp, all three have performed well and they backed up their strong practices with great showings against the Dolphins. Each made big-time plays and provided a strong first impression.

While it’s unclear if any of them will become starters Week 1, there is certainly a path for each of them to make an impact in 2018, something not many could have foreseen. To have three rookies play big-time roles, especially with Hargreaves and Grimes in them mix is mindblowing.
