Buccaneers vs. Titans: 3 players to watch
By Ryan Doyle
Jordan Whitehead
Out of all of the rookie defensive backs, Jordan Whitehead is the one to keep an eye on this week. Although Chris Conte will likely land the starting role, Whitehead’s strong play this preseason has opened a lot of eyes.
Whitehead was up to the task in his first NFL game. He broke up a handful of passes, including a potential touchdown. A great impression for a fourth-round pick.
All signs point to him lining up with the second team, so expect plenty of Whitehead on Saturday night. He did play through the final defensive drive in the preseason opener.
As he continues to develop, it’ll be interesting to see where defensive coordinator Mike Smith puts Whitehead. A versatile athlete, Whitehead can play centerfield or play closer to the box and help with run support.
He stood out above the rest last week, hopefully, he can do it again and become half of a dynamic safety tandem with Justin Evans.
