Ryan Fitzpatrick will keep starting quarterback job

Ryan Fitzpatrick will keep his job as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback when Jameis Winston returns from suspension.
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will keep Ryan Fitzpatrick locked in as the starting quarterback when Jameis Winston returns from suspension on Tuesday.
For months, Buccaneers fans have wondered how the organization will handle the quarterback situation. Before the regular season, it was almost a given that Winston would get the job back.
The general feeling was that the Bucs would struggle out of the gate with a daunting three-game stretch.
However, things change quickly in the NFL.
Tampa Bay has started off the season undefeated, and Fitzpatrick looks like a Pro Bowl quarterback.
Fitzpatrick has lit the world on fire. Throwing for 819 yards and eight touchdowns. It’s been a record-breaking start for the 14-year veteran.
The hot start has Winston, the former number one overall pick moving to a backup role. Winston left the door open for Fitzpatrick, and he has made the most of his opportunity. Earlier this week, wideout DeSean Jackson showed support for ‘Fitz’ as well.
If Tampa Bay continues to win, Fitzpatrick will garner more and more support. At the moment, it doesn’t appear that the coaching staff is giving up on the potential franchise quarterback. It’s just a matter of sticking with what works.
Back-to-back wins over the rival New Orleans Saints, and the defending Super Bowl Champions are not something head coach Dirk Koetter can brush off.
Glazer also said that if Fitzpatrick does something, “dramatically bad” he will get pulled. That makes sense. If Fitzpatrick begins to falter at some point in the season, Winston will get his job back.
For now, the Buccaneers will live by the motto, “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.”
