If Wednesday’s injury report is any indication, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in good shape for Sunday’s division battle with the Atlanta Falcons.
It was a promising injury report for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. On paper, the Bucs look pretty healthy as they return from the bye week.
Both O.J. Howard and Beau Allen returned to practice. Howard was injured in Tampa Bay’s last game, suffering an MCL sprain. Allen suffered a foot injury in Week 2, and the limited participation in practice is a big step.
It was a great sign that Howard was able to practice on Wednesday. His injury initially could have forced him to miss up to three games, but he may not miss one if he gets cleared for Sunday.
With Atlanta’s injury-riddled secondary and linebacking corps, Howard might be in for a huge day if he can play.
The Bucs will monitor both Howard and Allen closely. However, participating this early in the week typically indicates that both will get the nod to play this week.
Tampa Bay’s secondary will also get a reinforcement back as safety Jordan Whitehead was a full participant. Whitehead is poised to start alongside Justin Evans. He will face a tall task with the high-powered Atlanta Falcons offense.
Demar Dotson and Carlton Davis were also limited in practice, but there doesn’t appear to be any concern that they are in danger of missing Sunday’s game.
Dotson and Davis are going to play essential roles against Atlanta. Dotson will line up across from talented pass rusher Vic Beasley, while Davis will line up across from Julio Jones, one of the best wideouts in the NFL.
The bye week seemed to have come at a great time. Tampa had a handful of short-term injuries to key players, and they are all on pace to play this week. With both teams desperate for a win, the Buccaneers have the advantage in the injury department.
