Buccaneers. Deionte Thompson. 17. player. 48. . Safety

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in desperate need of a star defensive back.

After passing on Derwin James in the first round last season, the Bucs learn from their past mistake and take arguably the best safety in the 2019 class, Alabama’s Deionte Thompson.

Thompson can play solid centerfield in Tampa’s defense. He is an aggressive player that will try and make plays over the middle of the field.

On the season, Thompson already has 47 tackles, two interceptions and a pair of forced fumbles on the season. He has been a critical part of Alabama’s devastating defense.

Each week, Thompson has displayed his tremendous range to swat away passes and force turnovers. Currently, the Buccaneers secondary is lacking a playmaker. Adding Thompson could be the final piece in a young, developing secondary.
