Wide receiver DeSean Jackson versus cornerback Donte Jackson

DeSean Jackson enjoyed his most fruitful days as a Buccaneer with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, making this game a potential return to form for the All-Pro speedster.

Jackson has still managed to make plays with Winston at quarterback and has scored a touchdown in two straight weeks on a jet-sweep against the Browns and a bomb against the Bengals.

Still, his overall receiving numbers have dipped over the last couple weeks despite him being wide open frequently.

Carolina will look to slow Jackson down by putting their own speedster up against him. Cornerback Donte Jackson was selected in the second round by the Panthers this year, presumably with matchups like this one in mind.

Jackson ran a blazing 40-yard dash time and mirrored his own game after DeSean’s when he played the receiver position in high school. With James Bradberry likely to follow Mike Evans, I expect Carolina to task Jackson with following Jackson most of the afternoon.

Donte Jackson has enjoyed a fine season thus far, being called the Defensive Rookie of the Year by NFL Network. With Tampa’s Jackson seeking a breakout and Carolina’s Jackson seeking a statement, this match-up will certainly be one to keep an eye on.
