Control the trenches

The Buccaneers ability to dominate the Giants offensive line is essential, but at the same time, Tampa offensive line has faced similar issues of late.

Although the Bucs started the season protecting Ryan Fitzpatrick, they have faltered of late. Fitzpatrick hasn’t had the time to wait for routes to develop.

Without the deep ball, Fitzpatrick has thrown more interceptions as opposing defensive backs aren’t afraid to get in the face of Tampa’s receiving corps.

The real issues lie in the run game. On nearly every rush, running back Peyton Barber is forced to evade tacklers before he reaches the line of scrimmage. While Barber may not be an elite back, his tough running style can make him a productive part of Tampa’s offense.

The offensive line’s inability to open up holes for him turns the Bucs into a one-dimensional offense. If they could manage to get the run game going early, the Giants have no chance to slow them down.
