Tampa Bay is in desperate need for talent at cornerback. Veteran corner Brent Grimes is over the hill, and their pair of rookie draft picks have struggled mightily in 2017.

There’s no reason to write off Carlton Davis or M.J. Stewart, but the Bucs certainly need a reliable veteran on the field with them.

Although Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby will be coming off of a torn ACL, the Bucs need to try and sign him to a contract. The corner market is thin. Two of the best available options, Darby and Jason Verrett tore their ACLs this season.

With how often players bounce back from the surgery, it shouldn’t be that much of a red flag.

Darby was locked in as the Eagles number one cornerback since he was acquired in 2017. While he may not carry a superstar name like Jalen Ramsey or Patrick Peterson, he is a true number one.

Tampa Bay already has young players in their secondary. 2019 is the time to add veteran players who have a history of shutting down receivers.

Davis and Darby on the outside and Vernon Hargreaves playing nickel, the unit would look worlds better on paper.
