Ryan Doyle (@RDoyle27): CB Brent Grimes

The Bucs looked for Brent Grimes to be a stopgap at outside cornerback as rookies Carlton Davis and M.J. Stewart used the 2018 season to develop.

While he may have provided great insight during practice and in the film room, but hopefully Grimes used the motto, “do as I say, not as I do.” Because he could have taught the young defensive backs plenty of bad habits.

Sadly, Grimes has been as ineffective as the rookies. His age finally caught up to him in 2018 as he has been torn up by opposing receivers.

Injuries have also impacted his 2018 campaign. He missed the first two games of the regular season and was more than a step slow in his first handful of starts.

It’s tough to complain about Grimes’ career in Tampa Bay as a whole. He led the league in passes defended in 2016 with 24 and provided solid production for his age. The four-time Pro Bowler had a successful career, but, 2018 will be the end of the line for Grimes.
