QB Jameis Winston

Technically, the Buccaneers already made up their mind on Jameis Winston. They picked up his fifth-year option back in April. But they have until May 3 to cut him.

The entire city of Tampa Bay would be stunned if the Bucs don’t begin the 2019 season with Winston under center, but it is an option for general manager Jason Licht to ponder.

Winston’s strong play at the end of the season will help his cause. He had a rough day against the Saints, but Winston has limited his turnovers, and he led the Bucs to a 2-1 record since taking over for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

There is a reality where Tampa Bay goes into a tailspin down the stretch and land a top ten pick in the NFL Draft. With a few intriguing quarterback prospects on the board, the Bucs could pull the trigger on Draft day.

It may seem like a long shot, but a new head coach next season could mean a new field general in red and pewter. If that staff doesn’t think Winston is the answer long-term, they could cut ties this offseason.
