Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 7-round Mock Draft Vol. 2
By Ryan Doyle
Tampa Bay has only one quarterback on the roster right now. That man is Jameis Winston. Although the Bucs can quickly bring back Ryan Fitzpatrick or Ryan Griffin in for the 2019 season, adding a younger option into the mix may not be a bad idea.
Gardner Minshew had a terrific season in Mike Leach‘s offense. He threw for 38 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 70.7 percent of his passes.
Minshew made a ton of fun plays for the Cougars. Avoiding defenders and delivering the ball downfield, but the consistency wasn’t there for him. He is inaccurate, and he isn’t able to go through his progressions fast enough.
He likely won’t be anything more than a backup at the NFL level, but that’s something the Bucs need. And how awesome is the name Gardner Minshew?
The final round of the Draft is usually a place to add a player who has a strong trait or two that can be developed to fit a role down the road.
If Minshew or any young quarterback can sit in the quarterback’s room for a few seasons, they could become a valuable backup.
Tampa Bay does not own a seventh round pick. This would be their last pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.
