The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have at least one representative at the 2019 Pro Bowl in Orlando. Wide receiver Mike Evans will participate in the festivities.

The NFL announced that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans would participate in the 2019 Pro Bowl.

Evans did not receive enough votes to make the NFC’s Pro Bowl team initially, but an injury to Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones opened up a spot for Evans.

There was no doubt that Evans was one of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs. He had the third-most receiving yards in the NFL, and his 17.7 yards per reception mark was unmatched with receivers that had his level of production.

Evans will be the first wide receiver in franchise history to make multiple Pro Bowls.  At just 25 years old,  Evans may already be the best Buccaneers receiver of All-Time. His numbers have been awe-inspiring, and he continues to show why he is among the elite pass catchers in today’s game.

Pro Bowl nominations may not seem all that important to some, but Evans deserves the recognition. He has been a consistent force for Tampa Bay for years. Plus, at least it gives fans some incentive to tune in to watch the game.

The Texas A&M product had a terrific season for the Bucs. He hauled in 86 passes for 1,524 yards and eight touchdowns. He broke the franchise record previously held by Mark Carrier for the most receiving yards in a single season.

Not only did Evans break the single-season mark, but he surpassed Carrier to become the Buccaneers all-time leading receiver regarding yardage. The next target will be James Wilder‘s receptions record, which Evans should top next season.

Tampa Bay has the chance for one more player to make the Pro Bowl. If injuries occur or more spots open up, defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul could be sent to participate as well. He and Evans were named alternates a few weeks ago.
