Let walk: WR Adam Humphries

Although Adam Humphries had a career year in 2018, it will be a challenge to bring him back as an unrestricted free agent.

The Buccaneers cap situation isn’t ideal and investing another $10 million per year in a receiver isn’t a priority. Yes, Tampa Bay will likely cut DeSean Jackson, freeing up space, but handing that money over to Humphries isn’t the proper allocation of resources.

Humphries is an excellent option in the slot, and it is going to drive up his price with a thin market of wide receivers available in free agency. If the Bucs can sign him to a reasonable deal, it’s a no-brainer to bring him back. That’s just not going to happen.

Other teams may drive up his price. If New York Jets wideout Quincy Enunwa is making $9 million per year, Humphries’ price tag should be much higher.

He had a terrific stint with Tampa so far. He caught 76 passes for 816 yards and five touchdowns last season. A reliable target for Jameis Winston, Humphries should do well in the open market.
