Desean Jackson

It is not a secret that Desean Jackson wants out of Tampa Bay, as he has publicly stated it himself. LINK It is yet to be seen whether or not new Head Coach Bruce Arians and new Offensive Coordinator Byron Leftwich can convince him to stay. The 32-year-old wide out is entering the last year of his contract that is due to net him $10 million.

If the Bucs were to trade him or cut him, the team would see that full $10 million in cap relief without eating any dead money, before or after June 1. While there is absolutely a market for the speedy Jackson, and he has proven that he can still contribute in the NFL into his 30s, it will be interesting to see how this situation develops.

Right now the odds stand at probably around 75/25 that he does not return to the Bucs, but as Tampa Bay has already cut one veteran in Vinny Curry, LINK They have not yet cut Jackson. This means that the team is more than likely exploring the trade market for the deep threat’s services. It would be suspected, though, if no trade partner is found, that the two sides are headed for a divorce.
