Morgan Burnett

The former Packer and current Pittsburgh Steeler, Morgan Burnett has already expressed his displeasure with the team and has publicly stated that he wants out of the Steel City. The nine-year veteran safety is only 29 years old and is under contract through 2021, and given his displeasure, Pittsburgh could be looking for any asset they can get in return for Burnett.

With that being said, the Buccaneers could potentially offer a future sixth or seventh rounder and win the rights to a safety that has four seasons with over 100 tackles for the third level. With Chris Conte set to hit free agency after a season ending ACL injury, the team is in desperate need for an upgrade next to Justin Evans at the safety position.

While Joseph is the younger, more talented option to upgrade the secondary, Burnett is the cheaper and still very serviceable option. Throughout his career he has recorded nine interceptions and 50 passes defended. Burnett has also forced eight fumbles in his career and scored one defensive touchdown.

This move may make more sense for Tampa Bay if they are not willing to give up a mid-round pick for Joseph, and it would allow them to keep their more valuable assets while still upgrading the position. Whatever the team decides to do, the safety position must be addressed.
