Ronald Jones

The good news for second-year running back Ronald Jones is that it could not possibly get any worse for him in his second season. He gets a fresh start under new Head Coach Bruce Arians who has gotten the most out of running backs everywhere he has went and should be held personally responsible for the development of David Johnson.

The Buccaneers announced yesterday that they had signed 30-year-old running back Andre Ellington, who played for Arians in Arizona for five years. While some may scoff at this move on the surface, it would not be surprising if this move did not have more to do with the development of Jones than any actual on-the-field production.

Ellington is set to serve as a mentor to Jones and answer any questions about Arians’ system that he may have moving forward. With the impending free agency of both Jaquizz Rodgers and Peyton Barber, Jones needs to prove that he can handle the learning curve of the NFL. If he can prove to Arians and company that he deserves to be in this league, Jones fits the mold of what Arians looks for in a running back and could be looking at a massive jump in year two.
