Jonah Williams

Once considered the top tackle prospect in the 2019 draft class, Jonah Williams is on a free fall and could be taken outside of the top 20 at this point. Concerns over his size have been a major red flag for many draft experts, coming in at right around 300 pounds. Many are not sure if he has the size and skillset to translate as a tackle, and may be viewed as a guard at the next level.

Good news for the Buccaneers is that they are in the market for both a guard and a tackle, so those concerns will not bother them as long as he is not taken in the top five. Along with his size, Williams also took a beating from potential top-five pick Clelin Ferrell in the national championship game, and as a result, so has his draft stock.

He would be great value in the mid-to-late teens for Tampa Bay and would be expected to start right away for struggling Caleb Benenoch or Demar Dotson, who is soon to be a cap casualty. It is no secret that neither Ryan Fitzpatrick nor Jameis Winston could protect the ball in 2018, and a large part of that was due to the amount of pressure that they were exposed to up the middle. Drafting Williams as a guard would help Winston in 2019 to have more time to make better decisions.
