Jaquan Johnson, Safety
Jaquan Johnson is a bit of an undersized safety, but plays with so much heart and passion that his smaller stature (5’11”, 190) cannot be overlooked due to his results on the field. He is a former captain and the heart beat of the Miami Hurricanes elite defense. Johnson is a very physical safety at the point of attack and loves to lay a massive hit on opposing receivers to break up a potential catch or force a fumble.

Wanting safeties to be able to make open field tackles, Johnson is above average when it comes to wrapping the ball carrier up and making sure they go down. Johnson lacks elite speed but is very quick in short spaces, which helps make plays in the box and at the line of scrimmage as an extra tackler. This former second team All-American in 2017, and two-time All-ACC second team player in both 2017 and 2018 can be expected to be drafted on day three.
Expect Johnson to make a roster and contribute day-one on special teams while plugging in as a situational safety as well. Johnson would be a smart investment in the fourth round for the Buccaneers to make in a secondary that lacks depth.
