Jordan Scarlett, Running Back

Credit card fraud took Jordan Scarlett away from the game of football for the 2017 season and had many worried he may not be the same back upon his return. However, Scarlett showed last year that he is a very capable back and is worthy of a chance to make an NFL roster.

While at the University of Florida, Scarlett rushed for 1846 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry and that was with split reps. Scarlett has good speed in short areas but lacks the long-distance speed to break off long runs. Scarlett plays with great vision and uses his blockers to hit the open holes for chunk gains. He needs to continue to work on his pass protections and pass catching abilities after only catching 15 balls over three seasons and two as the primary back.

Scarlett should be a day 3 guy who pushes for more carries as the season progresses. The biggest red flag may be his age as a rookie as he will be 24 by the start of next season. But for the Bucs, a team in need of some running back depth due to the impending free agency of Peyton Barber and the slow development of Ronald Jones, a late round flyer may not be a bad idea.
