After spending four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and two years under Bruce Arians in Arizona, veteran Ted Larsen could look to return to familiarity.

On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins announced that they had released two veterans, one of which was interior offensive lineman Ted Larsen, a nine-year veteran who started his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010.

Playing his first four years in the NFL in Tampa Bay after being drafted by the New England Patriots and later plucked off of their practice squad by the Bucs, Larsen has familiarity with the Tampa Bay community, and the Bucs have a desperate need for someone to fill the void at right guard.

The city of Tampa Bay is not the only familiarity that Larsen has with the Buccaneers, but has also played under new head coach Bruce Arians in Arizona for the 2014 and 2015 seasons where he started 26 games in that stretch. With the expectation that the Bucs will add a veteran interior lineman or draft one, 31-year-old Larsen is a name to keep a close eye on as free agency is vastly approaching.

Larsen has spent time with the Chicago Bears in 2016 in addition to wearing a Patriots, Cardinals, Dolphins, and Buccaneers jersey; he has started a total of 86 games during his tenure in the NFL. In what could be his last chance at a contract, it would behoove Larsen to take a deal with a place where he has the most security; Tampa Bay would be that location.

While second year and third round pick from just one year ago Alex Cappa will have every opportunity to win the starting right guard job, it would be foolish of Jason Licht and the Buccaneers to head into camp without a fallback plan in place; a veteran with the experience of Larsen would be an inexpensive and experienced piece to add to the locker room.
