D+. . . OL. EARL WATFORD

Adding depth to their offensive line, the Buccaneers added Earl Watford, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns. Watford has started games for the Cardinals at both guard and tackle, and factored primarily as a reserve player and special teamer in Cleveland a year ago. Hopefully that is the plan for him in Tampa Bay as well.

With Caleb Benenoch moving to tackle after a terrible 2018 season, it looks like the job at right guard is going to be a battle between Watford and 2018 third round pick Alex Cappa. If Watford, who is returning to his former coach in Tampa Bay in Arians, is in the running for the starting right guard job, then the Bucs are in trouble at the position.

The 28-year-old lineman is now with his third team in five years, and being on a one-year deal, do not expect him to be in Tampa Bay past the 2019 season. While this may be a move to add depth to the offensive line, it seems like Watford will be given a chance to compete; fans of the Bucs better hope that this is not the case and that he is truly just an “in case of emergencies” player in Tampa Bay this season.
