Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 5 day-two targets in the 2019 NFL Draft
By Cory Kinnan
Darrell Henderson, Running Back, Memphis
Just as the cornerback class received a wake-up call at the combine, the running back class caused many teams to re-evaluate their rankings at that position. Darrell Henderson could end up being the number one running back on some boards, and still has potential to be on the board when the third round rolls around.
The All-American running back had a very productive college career at Memphis, rushing for back-to-back 1,100 yard seasons. He exploded in 2018 with 1,900 yards rushing, nearly 300 yards receiving, and 25 total touchdowns for the Tigers.
While Henderson only partook in a few drills at the combine, he ranked in the 70th percentile or above in the broad jump, bench press, and 40 yard dash. Displaying a great balance of speed, athleticism, and strength in Indianapolis, Henderson will be a day-two pick.
Tampa Bay should consider snatching Henderson in the third round if he is still available, as they only re-signed Peyton to a one-year deal after averaging only 3.7 yards per carry in 2018. Last year’s second round selection Ronald Jones has been behind the learning curve to this point in his career, and if the Bucs decide that Jones is not a part of their future, then Henderson could be on their draft board.
