Round 3, Pick 70: Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida

The third step in the best case draft for the Buccaneers requires a bit of risk with the 70th overall pick in the draft. It is time to spin the chamber and select Jachai Polite, who has maybe had the worst pre-draft process in the entire history of the NFL draft.

Although Polite has completely tanked his draft stock with his appearances at the combine, where he reportedly did not interview well and tested poorly, pulling up with a rather suspect hamstring issue after a bad 40 time. He did not help his cause at his pro day, where he proceeded to run an even slower time, pulled up injured, and looked extremely overweight.

However, the film does not lie, and Polite has the film of a first rounder. There may not be a prospect more worthy of a top-30 official visit than Polite in order to understand what is going on with him. Is he lazy and unprepared? Did he take bad advice from his agent? Bring Polite in and interrogate him to see if his talents can flourish under the right discipline and coaching.

Arians and company were brought in to bring discipline and guidance to a team that is rather lacking in those areas. If the Buccaneers feel like Polite could be molded by defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Arians, they could be looking at the steal of the draft with the 70th pick overall.
