Cody Ford

Cody Ford, the Oklahoma Sooners’ right tackle that has blocked for Heisman Trophy winners Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, may be on his way to protect Jameis Winston next. A hot name in the deep pool of offensive line prospects in this year’s class, Ford may hear his name come off of the board only behind Florida’s Jawaan Taylor later this month.

At nearly 6’4 and 329 pounds, Ford has the size necessary to play along the trenches in the NFL, and at the combine, her proved that he has enough athleticism to play at either tackle or guard at the next level. If he were to become a Buccaneer, he would most likely start at right guard, then potentially kick out to right tackle in 2020, as Demar Dotson is aging and on the last year of his contract in Tampa Bay.

While Ford is not a candidate to take with the fifth overall pick, if the Buccaneers manage to trade into the teens, say with Washington at the 15th pick in the draft, then the Oklahoma big man could be very much in play for Tampa Bay. With less than a month until the draft, the Buccaneers’ big board is becoming clearer by the day.
