Washington

Another potential trade partner for the Buccaneers and bidder for the fifth overall pick is Washington. The quarterback room in Washington was an absolute dumpster fire after the devastating injury to starter Alex Smith, as Colt McCoy also suffered a season ending injury, then Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson also saw starts in 2018.

Even though Washington just acquired Keenum from the Broncos, as previously mentioned, they could be in a similar situation as Denver and looking to bridge the gap to a rookie quarterback as it looks unlikely that Smith will be able to step foot on an NFL field again.

If the Buccaneers were to make this deal with Washington, they would move back to the mid-point in the first round with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. An additional 2020 first rounder and more could be expected to be received in return for this big of a jump.

The Buccaneers would most likely be sacrificing the ability to add an elite defender at this point in the draft, but there is potential that Bush, Sweat, or Burns could fall to them here as well. Other prospects that could be in play with the 15th pick include Cody Ford, Greedy Williams, Clelin Ferrell, or Christian Wilkins.
