Round 5, Pick 145: Zedrick Woods, S, Ole Miss

This offseason, the Buccaneers have already added a safety to their secondary via free agency with the former starter for the Green Bay Packers Kentrell Brice inking a one-year deal with the team. However, due to the lack of depth and the bleeding nature of the secondary, do not be shocked to see them add another piece to that position in the draft; here they select Zedrick Woods from Ole Miss.

Woods was a four-year starter for the Rebels, and seemed to improve every year that he was at Ole Miss. He had his best season in 2018, where he recorded 79 tackles, one for loss from his safety spot, tallied a half of a sack, and picked off two passes. Additionally, Woods forced two fumbles and returned a fumble for a touchdown last season.

At the combine, Woods went on to turn heads, running a blazing 4.29 40 yard dash. He then tested above average at the other drills as well, hitting 19 reps on the bench press, 34.5 inches on his vertical jump, over 10 feet on his broad jump, and ran seven seconds flat in the 3-cone drill.

Needing another piece to add depth and competition in the third level of their defense, Tampa Bay adds Woods here in order to potentially win the starting job next to Justin Evans in 2019.
