Round 2: Mack Wilson, Alabama

Once thought of as a first rounder, Mack Wilson has seen his draft stock take a small hit and is now viewed as a day-two prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft. If the Buccaneers are able to land Williams or Allen with the fifth pick in the draft, or trade out and cannot land Bush or White, then Wilson would be a solid option with the 39th pick in the draft.

Wilson is known as the better linebacker in pass coverage in this year’s draft class, but sometimes can get his eyes caught in the backfield and over-pursue on plays. In two seasons as the starter for the Crimson Tide, Wilson picked off six passes from his linebacker position and returned one for a touchdown. Throughout that span, Wilson has also tallied 105 tackles, seven of which came behind the line of scrimmage, and one sack.

To possibly hurt his draft stock even more, Wilson scratched from the combine after re-aggravating an injury while warming up. At his pro day, Wilson did not post the best of numbers either, running just a 4.71 40 yard dash and only hitting 33 inches on his vertical jump.

Wilson is worth a top-30 visit to see what happened during this pre-draft process and why he tested so poorly, but ultimately he will most likely still wind up being selected in the second round later this month.
