Round 4: Gerald Willis, Miami

In the fourth round, the Buccaneers may be able to land an in-state prospect in the University of Miami’s Gerald Willis. There is a real possibility that Tampa Bay may choose to add more than one defensive lineman, and if they do, Willis would give them quality depth on that side of the football.

Willis is a transfer from the University of Florida, where he often struggled with off-the-field issues, but as soon as he landed on the Hurricanes’ squad, he quickly changed his ways. He was, however, stuck behind quality defensive tackle prospects up until 2018, but last season he burst onto the scene.

The one-year starter posted 59 total tackles, including 18 behind the line of scrimmage and four sacks along the Hurricane defensive front. Even though he does not have years of success, he still managed to catch the attention of NFL scouts and general managers this past season.

Unfortunately for Willis, he has not been able to complete any testing due to an injury that he suffered in-season. At the combine, he measured in at nearly 6’2 and 302 pounds, making him the ideal size to play defensive end in Tampa Bay’s 3-4 scheme if they choose to make him a Buccaneers in about two weeks.
