It is no secret the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lack a viable and consistent running game in 2018 and may be looking for an upgrade through the draft.

The roster is lacking a true workhorse or even a true bellcow back to separate himself from the pack. Familiar faces in Peyton Barber, former second round draft pick from a year ago Ronald Jones, and a former player under new head coach Bruce Arians in Andre Ellington are not exactly known for being running backs a defense has to gameplan against.

While Barber received the majority of the load for Tampa Bay in 2018, he failed to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing and averaged less than four yards per carry. Jones had a hard time adjusting to the speed of the NFL game and as a result did not see the field often last year, while Ellington was out of the league in 2018.

The Buccaneers could look to change their fortunes this year when the draft rolls around in just two weeks. Over the course of NFL history we have seen numerous running backs be drafted in the third round or later and turn into franchise ball carriers for their respective teams.
