Round 6, Pick 208: Devine Ozigbo, RB, Nebraska

With their second selection in the sixth round in this trade simulated mock draft, the Buccaneers stay on the offensive side of the football and add another running back to their room. This time, Devine Ozigbo from the University of Nebraska trades the white and red for the pewter and red and makes his way to Tampa Bay.

While Ozigbo never took over the lead role in the Cornhusker backfield until 2018, he burst onto the scene with 1,082 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns while averaging a whopping seven yards per carry; he caught 23 passes out of the backfield for an another 200 yards. He finished his college career with nearly 2,200 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns.

While Ozigbo did not attend the combine, he tested as an elite athlete at his pro day. Measuring in at 5’11 and 222 pounds, Ozigbo has the size to be a bruiser while displaying soft hands to catch passes out of the backfield as well. He ran a 4.54 40 yard dash, hit 19 reps on the bench press, and jumped 37 inches and 10 feet in his vertical and broad jumps respectively.

With Peyton Barber on a one-year extension with much to prove, the Buccaneers are expecting a bounce back year from Ronald Jones; this would give Tampa Bay a formidable backfield if Jones does perform to the tune of a second round pick. If Tampa moves on from Barber after 2019, Ozigbo and Jones could give the Bucs a thunder and lightning backfield for years to come.
