Week Two (9/12): at Carolina Panthers

Given an unfavorable start to the season, the Buccaneers will go on the road and face the division rival Carolina Panthers on Thursday night with just four days to prepare. After a colossal collapse in 2018, the Panthers will be looking for redemption this season, and it looks like Cam Newton will be ready to roll when the season starts.

The good news for the Bucs is that the Panthers have made absolutely no progress in taking steps to protect Newton from taking another beating. The only move along the offensive line was retaining right tackle Daryl Williams on a one-year deal, after missing all of 2018.

Week two could be a big game for Shaquil Barrett, Jason Pierre-Paul, and company as Carolina simply does not have the protection to keep Newton upright. The Panthers have also cut two starters from their secondary and have not replaced them as of yet, meaning that the towering receivers of Tampa Bay should have a field day.

The Buccaneers tend to always split with their divisional opponents, and there is no reason to think this year would be any different. Both teams are coming off of a short week, and going to Raleigh, Tampa Bay sneaks out a win.

Prediction: Buccaneers win 24-17
