Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

With the rumors seeming more true by the day that the Arizona Cardinals will indeed select Kyler Murray with the number one pick, it could cause quarterback needy teams to set themselves ablaze in order to trade up to get their guy. If even one team trades up to draft presumably Dwayne Haskins or Drew Lock, then the probability of the Buccaneers being able to draft the white whale in Quinnen Williams skyrockets.

Williams is the best player in this year’s draft class, and due to the urgency to grab a pass rusher or a quarterback, Nick Bosa and Josh Allen may both jump him as well, allowing him to land in the gentle lap of Tampa Bay. With the Bucs suffering from a lack of depth along their defensive front and the days of Gerald McCoy seemingly numbered, Williams would be a day-one starter and contend for a Pro Bowl as a rookie.

The thought of passing on Williams is one that causes vomit to rise to the tip of the throat as he is of the breed of talent that does not come around often. Under no circumstances does general manager Jason Licht deserve to keep his job if he passes on Williams in favor of White.
