13th overall pick via Miami: Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida State

At the latest likely spot for the Buccaneers to trade back to, the defensive options on the board would be diminished, but not necessarily a drop off in talent. Honorable mentions for this spot would be Devin White or Devin Bush, but the real steal at this spot would be Brian Burns from Florida State. Burns was a member of an underachieving Florida State team in 2018, but his athleticism and college stats show that he is on par with the likes of Sweat and Allen.

Burns had an impressive combine despite the lack of attention that it has received. Burns ran a 4.53 second 40-yard dash but could stand to put on a few pounds to start his NFL career as he weighed in at 249 pounds. Burns was also a major contributor on the FSU defense with 10 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss.

For a team that has so many needs on the defensive side of the ball and a desire to increase future draft capital, there are very few moves that the Buccaneers can make that would be negative for the notion of team building. All of these players and the likes of Devin White and Devin Bush could come in and make an immediate impact, but there are certain picks that simply cannot be passed up if they are available.
