Johnathan Abram, S, Mississippi State

If the Buccaneers choose to address the safety position with their second round selection, Johnathan Abram from Mississippi State is the likely candidate to wind up in Tampa Bay if still on the board. A tackle machine in college, Abram could be the next safety in a line of great ones molded by Bowles, including Tyrann Mathieu and Jamal Adams. Already visiting with the Buccaneers, he could find himself staying long-term in Tampa Bay if that meeting with the team went well.

At the combine, Abrams measured in at 5’11 and 205 pounds. At his weight, he managed to run a blazing 4.44 second 40 yard dash with elite splits at both the 10 and 20 yard mark. While his jumps were not great at just 33.5 inches on his vertical and a little over 9 feet on his broad, Abrams has the makings of a dynamic box safety.

He did not test at his pro day, nor did he partake in the agility tests at the combine, but if he performed well in individual workouts with teams, Abrams could go even higher than top-40 in the draft. In their bleeding safety room, the Buccaneers are in desperate need of help; Abram could be their knight in shining armor with their second round pick.
