Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 5 players to target with 39th pick
By Cory Kinnan
Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma
The most surprising player to meet with the Buccaneers during the pre-draft process was Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown. He is often compared to another deep threat in the NFL, who happened to spend the last two seasons in Tampa Bay: Desean Jackson. Blowing the stat sheet off of the charts while with the Sooners, Brown now finds himself looking like a top-40 lock next week.
To say Brown is small is to put it mildly, as he is tiny. At the combine, Brown measured in at just 5’9 and 166 pounds. However his game film show a player who has speed to burn; this is appealing to NFL teams despite his size, including Tampa Bay. Unfortunately, Brown has been unable to prove his athleticism as he has been recovering from an ankle injury and has not tested throughout the draft process.
While the Buccaneers signed Breshad Perriman as the apparent replacement to Jackson, he is only on a one-year deal, and Tampa Bay could be looking long-term if they select Brown with the 39th overall pick. It may be a longshot that Brown winds up in Tampa Bay, but the two sides have at least met, and if Brown falls to the second round, there is no predicting what Licht will do.
