Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 7-round mock draft with three days to go
By Cory Kinnan
Round 3, Pick 70: Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida
If Jachai Polite manages to drop to the third round, then he would be worth the risk for the Buccaneers, however he must be avoided before that point. While he still remains a risk with the 70th pick in the draft, Polite could provide the Buccaneers with a fantastic addition off of the edge opposite Shaquil Barrett.
Polite put together maybe the worst pre-draft process of any player in NFL history. Bombing both the interview and testing portion of the combine, then completely bottoming out at his pro day with an even worse performance than at the combine in Indianapolis, Polite was once considered a top-15 pick and a first round lock. However, on film, Polite is a dynamic and elite pass rusher.
The Buccaneers brought Polite in for a pre-draft visit and more than likely had one of their more intensive screenings to figure out why and how he performed so poorly in the biggest job interviews of his career. If Polite satisfies Tampa Bay’s questions and calms their fears, the team could feel comfortable taking him with the 70th pick in the draft and could get one of the better pass rushers in this class at a bargain cost.
