Jachai Polite, Florida

The wild card of all wild cards in this year’s draft class is Florida pass rusher Jachai Polite. On film, Polite is easily a top-15 player in the class, however he put together one of the worst pre-draft processes in the history of the NFL Draft.

During his one and only year as a starter for the Gators’ defense, Polite tallied a productive stat line of 11 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss, and forced six fumbles, proving to be a disruptive player off the edge. Heading into 2018, Polite had only nine tackles for loss and four sacks to his name.

Expecting to test off the charts athletically, Polite managed to run only a 4.84 second 40 yard dash and a 32 inch vertical at the combine before pulling up with a timely tweaked muscle in Indianapolis. He somehow managed to make things worse at his pro day, running a 5 second flat second 40 yard dash; it is also rumored Polite was not approachable or open during the interview circuit.

The Buccaneers used a top-30 visit on Polite to get behind his horrendous pre-draft process, and if they deem him as draftable based off of their face-to-face interactions, then they could bring him to Tampa Bay and allow Bruce Arians and Bowles to get him into shape.
