Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jason Pierre-Paul involved in car accident
By Cory Kinnan
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was involved in a car accident yesterday morning, but suffered only minor injuries.
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Jason Pierre-Paul was “involved in a single car crash early Thursday but did not suffer any major injuries…” (via Tampa Bay Times). The Tampa Bay Buccaneers team leader in sacks one year ago may have dodged another bullet after already being victim to a firework incident a few years ago as a member of the New York Giants.
The news may have been jarring to Buccaneers’ fans who have already seen linebacker Kendell Beckwith involved in an offseason car accident after a promising rookie season, and have not seen he on the field since. Luckily, it seems Pierre-Paul will not find himself in the same boat.
The Buccaneers issued a statement late last night in regards to Pierre-Paul’s accident stating:
"“We have been informed that Jason was involved in a one-car accident early this morning in South Florida in which he was not cited. We know that he was evaluated at a local hospital and has since been released. Our immediate concern is for the safety and well-being of Jason and his passenger. We have been in contact with Jason and will be getting him further evaluated by our medical staff in the near future.” (via Buccaneers)"
Pierre-Paul is coming off of a 2018 campaign where he had his best season in four years, totaling 12.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss in his first season as a member of the Buccaneers. The Pewter Plank wished Pierre-Paul and his passenger nothing but good health and a speedy recovery from this car accident.
