Corey Liuget

Another first round pick back in the 2011 draft who is now on the market is Corey Liuget, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers. After missing games in back-to-back seasons, the Chargers decided to part ways with their 6’2 and 300 pound defensive lineman, and the Buccaneers would be a great landing spot for the Miami native.

Liuget made up part of the strong defensive front in Los Angeles which also consisted on Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. In Tampa Bay, he would factor in as an interior defensive end and could fill any hole left by the departure of McCoy. Although he played only two games in 2018, Liuget was one a torrid pace, recording five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and a sack and a half over that span.

Another signing worth a one-year deal at less than half the cost of McCoy’s $13 million price tag, Liuget is a player to be had on a bargain deal still on the market. Entering his ninth season in the league, Liuget is still a disruptive player and would make the lives of the Buccaneers less stressful if McCoy is on the move before the start of the 2019 season.
