Round 2, Pick 39: Sean Murphy-Bunting, CB, Central Michigan

Original Pick: Sean Murphy-Bunting, CB, Central Michigan

The selection of Sean Murphy-Bunting was a slam dunk for the Buccaneers, as he was the third cornerback in this class, above the likes of Deandre Baker and Greedy Williams. Ranked as the 37th overall player, getting Murphy-Bunting with the 39th pick is great value for Tampa Bay.

Head coach Bruce Arians stated he wanted to get bigger and more athletic on the outside defensively, and get bigger and more athletic he did. Murphy-Bunting ranks in the top 60 percent in all measurables, and top 80 percent in the vertical jump, broad jump, and 40 yard dash.

With nine career interceptions, Murphy-Bunting has a nose for the football and his film shows a defensive back quick to break on routes and stick with receivers down the field. With his size, speed, and athleticism, Murphy-Bunting will have the ability to hang with the likes of Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley.

The Buccaneers nailed this pick and there is no reason to change the selection here in the re-draft as Murphy-Bunting will get a chance to start right away in 2019 for Todd Bowles’ defense in Tampa Bay. Expect Murphy-Bunting to develop into a top-tier cornerback who will have his name talked about in a of couple years.
