David Kenney, EDGE, Illinois State

Kenney has a very unique story and path that has led him to this point of his career and it is truly remarkable he was able to land a camp invite with his past. Not only has he landed a camp invite, but he walks away as a signed to a contract by the Buccaneers.

Kenney was originally a four star and top 350 player in the nation in 2013 and committed to the Indiana Hoosiers football team. After two seasons at Indiana, Kenney transferred to Illinois State who plays at the FCS level. While this jump down in competition going from the Power five to the FCS Illinois State, is one of the best at their level and have produced plenty of NFL guys.

After a season at Illinois State Kenney was dismissed from the team and school after seeing limited action in seven games the prior season. Since then we have not seen or heard much from Kenney and he is the only one of the invitees to be signed that was not an undrafted free agent from this past NFL draft in Nashville late last month.

With the injury of Jason Pierre-Paul expected to land him out until October or November, the Buccaneers have limited depth off the edge defensively. If Kenny puts together a strong showing this camp, he may be able to carve out a limited role during the 2019 season.
