The corner back depth chart for the Bucs this season will be difficult to picture now but is one that will hopefully be a bright spot on the 2019 defense.

After yet another year of adding two corners in the draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching staff and front office seem to provide no hints as to who the starters will be when the season begins. After picking up veteran Vernon Hargreaves’ fifth year extension but also adding two very talented corners to build onto the other newcomers, the whole situation seems like a bit of a mess.

For clarification, the Buccaneer defense will be changing somewhat dramatically this season under Todd Bowles. While he wants the transition to be smooth and fit the personnel that he already has, the Bucs are still switching to a 3-4 which will change the responsibilities of the players across the field. By adding two corners in this draft it becomes clear that Bowles wanted to add players that would best fit his aggressive attacking system.

As far as actual spots on the depth chart go, most of the final positions of players are speculation outside of perhaps Vernon Hargreaves and Sean Murphy-Bunting. Hargreaves, the 2016 first round pick, just had his 5th year deal picked up by the Bucs and is almost assuredly expected to live at nickel back this season. Murphy-Bunting was the first of the Bucs’ second round picks this year and with his speed and skillset seems to be a lock as a starter.
