Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 3 most under-appreciated players
By Cory Kinnan
OLB/DE Carl Nassib
A late addition to the team as a waiver claim at the end of the preseason last year, Carl Nassib joined the Buccaneers after getting cut by the Cleveland Browns in front of the entire nation on HBO’s Hard Knocks. Nassib did nothing but come into Tampa Bay and pay dividends on the field for the Buccaneers.
Just like Marpet and Barber, Nassib also graded in the green as an above average starter by PFF with a score of 69.5. Not only that, but the fourth-year player doubled his career totals in just 2018 alone while wearing the pewter and red.
Entering his first season with the Buccaneers, Nassib had a total of just five and a half sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 15 hits on opposing quarterbacks with the Browns. In 2018 for the Buccaneers Nassib tallied six and a half sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 14 hits on the quarterback.
Whether it was a bigger opportunity, a failed use of his talents and misevaluation in Cleveland, or a little of both, Nassib is now a Buc and Tampa Bay could not be happier. With the injury to Jason Pierre-Paul, Nassib will be asked to step up for the Buccaneers, and he could be looking at an even bigger year in 2019.
