The hiring of Bruce Arians by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was recently named their best move of the offseason, and it is hard to disagree.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went through a ton of transition this offseason. From parting ways with the cornerstone of their franchise over the past nine seasons, to drafting heavily on the defensive side of the ball, to hiring a new head coach, the Bucs will look much different on and off the field than they did a year ago.

In fact, in an article published by Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton ranking the best move of all 32 teams this offseason, he nailed down the hiring of Bruce Arians as head coach as the best move made by the Bucs all offseason. Moton pegs Arians’ success with other quarterbacks such as Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger, and Carson Palmer as to why this hire was so important.

"“If anyone could optimize quarterback Jameis Winston‘s talent, Arians has a good shot to guide the young signal-caller’s career in the right direction. The 25-year-old isn’t a total project. He’s thrown for 14,628 yards, 88 touchdowns and 58 interceptions while completing 61.6 percent of his pass attempts through four seasons. Arians will focus on limiting his turnovers” (Moton via Bleacher Report)."

Winston is entering his contract year and could see his future play out one of two ways: either he gets paid more money than he has ever seen in his life, or he’ll get a modest one-year deal to prove his worth somewhere else. For the sake of investing a first overall pick in him, the Buccaneers would prefer the former.

Arians brings along with him former New York Jets’ head coach Todd Bowles as his defensive coordinator and journeyman quarterback and “rising star” Byron Leftwich as his offensive coordinator to Tampa Bay. With a loaded staff and the possibility to unlock Winston, the Buccaneers could be looking at a steep increase in play from a year ago.
