Is Jameis Winston the best of a short list of quarterbacks?

While it has been a revolving door of sorts for quarterbacks since Brad Johnson has left, the most talented Bucs quarterback in recent history, or possibly ever is currently on the roster and goes by the name Jameis Winston. Winston was an elite college gunslinger for the Florida State Seminoles and now Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher. Winston dominated the college scene and in turn won the Heisman trophy, a national championship and made him the first overall pick in the draft.

Winston has not exactly lived up to expectations, but keep in mind he has played under Dirk Koetter for the entirety of his career, who was recently fired and also found himself struggling with off-the-field and immaturity issues. Winston has shown flashes of serious potential since joining the Bucs but hasn’t been consistent.

Chalk that up to poor coaching, lack of leadership or whatever you want but it won’t be tolerated or accepted anymore. With Bruce Arians as the new head coach and Byron Leftwich as offensive coordinator, a career year and turnaround for Jameis Winston is highly anticipated. This offense will be catered around Winston and his abilities and he will be counted on to air it out time and time again.

Completing a career total of over 61 percent of his passes, Winston has the arm strength and accuracy necessary to succeed at a high level. He was the winner of the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 after throwing for over 4,000 yards and 22 touchdowns after being the first overall pick in the draft.
