LB Devin White

Rookie linebacker Devin White is under a very different level of pressure compared to his veteran counterparts listed in this article. Currently White has miles of slack and would still retain his spot after a weak rookie season. Despite this, there are still expectations that create pressure for the 5th overall pick.

Rookies in the top 5 have a history of making an immediate impact on an NFL roster. As of recent, rookies have been found throughout the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro teams. The expectation for White is that he will make one of these teams in his first year in Tampa Bay despite the historically weak defense during the last few seasons.

White has a very talented coaching staff, several Pro Bowl caliber defenders alongside him, and the talent and athleticism to make a massive impact this first year. White could very easily follow the lead of Darius Leonard last season and has a very solid chance of winning Defensive Rookie of the Year. This is a title that Tampa Bay desperately needs him to win. If Devin White can win DROY that would likely mean that the Bucs were in the playoff hunt or at least have an extremely bright future ahead of them.

Finally, White has pressure around him due to questions surrounding his drafting by Bucs fans. This would have been a problem faced by anyone else taken at this spot, but many analysts thought that Josh Allen or Ed Oliver would have been better picks.

This will put White under scrutiny, but he will rise above and prove people wrong. White has been compared to the likes of Derrick Brooks and Tampa Bay fans everywhere hope that this will be a correct comparison.
